The BBC reported Tuesday it will close its BBC Three and BBC Scotland television channels in the spring, as the corporation continues to make 500 million pounds (669 million U.S. dollars) of savings over two years.

BBC Three, BBC Scotland, and BBC Radio 4 Extra are set to cease traditional linear broadcasting in spring 2027 as the broadcaster moves to reduce spending.

“We need to make every pound work harder for audiences as we respond to the immediate cost pressures and reinvent the BBC for a changing world,” said BBC director-general Matt Brittin.
